Have a lovely Halloween everyone!

I love these delicate felt flower brooches by A Alicia.

They also come in gray and coral. I think they could make the perfect accent for a bridesmaids dress, wedding dress, or even worn with a white t-shirt with a pair of jeans.

Oh yes, and they even have flowers for your hair. Lovely.

Orange and aqua vignette? Too fabulous! I love the contrasting shapes and different textures of the vases.

I love these nestled bowls of orange and aqua. I kind of want to redo my whole office in this color scheme.

And this has to be the most fabulous tea making set ever.

I’m loving these bejeweled t-strap shoes. By Guiseppe Zanotti and available here.

I love these crisscross gold shoes, they look like they’re made for dancing. Photo by Jessica Claire (and by the way did you see Jessica’s wedding shot by Jose Villa? To die for, go check it out here.)

I’m so excited to share with you the fashion from Wendy’s wedding! Take it away Wendy:
The ceremony was inspired by a short film in Akira Kurasawa’s “Dreams”; the fox wedding. –Have you seen this? The music played was Michael Nyman’s “String Quartet No.2: 3.III”, which is more unusual but beautiful; when it started, the bridesmaids and I started the long walk from behind the hill top to the top of the aisle.

The girls were instructed to keep their parasols down over their faces, and to walk tightly in pairs of 2 (except for my sister in the lead). Guests had no idea I was in the back of this long, colorful train.

One by one, they peeled off down the aisle (folding up their parasol and trading it with my dad for their appropriate bouquet), and then stood along the side of the chairs instead of in the front front. The flower girls tossed pink carnation petals, which I liked because they kind of remind me of peach blossoms (again, an inspiration from Kurasawa’s “Dreams”).

When it was finally my turn, I kept my triangular-shaped white parasol over my face until the right moment in the music and, like the others, closed it and took my bouquet from my dad and walked down the aisle with him.

Thank you for sharing Wendy!

About a year ago, one of my readers, Wendy, contributed a series of posts about going to Italy to get her wedding dress made by Giusepe Papini.

Now a year later, Wendy was kind enough to send photos from her day. Stay tuned for more details on Monday! You can check out the original “Made in Italy” posts: here, here, here, here and here.

This past Wednesday I had the amazing opportunity to go to the Vera Wang Fall 2010 show. In the above dress, I loved how the fabric was layered asymmetrically to create volume, and in person, you could really see the huge amount of detail and craftsmanship that goes into each dress.

I love how the bands of fabric swirl from top to bottom to create the shape of the dress. Also, the asymmetrical neckline and beading on the belt really enhance the subtle s-shape of the dress.

The simplest dress shown was this one-shoulder column dress. I love the crisscross pattern on the bodice!

The layers of cut shredded fabric and the detail on this dress is just stunning. To me it looks like a modern take on feathers.

And of course, this collection had loads of black detail. I love the nude underlay of this black dress which softens the look; this is definitely an option for the fashion-forward bride.

The dress had layers of lace and pleated fabric. The detail was incredible, and oh so delicate.

I love the contrast of the structured bodice here with the net overlay. I absolutely adore the crisscross detail on the back of the dress.

This dress was a study in sculpting layers. I love the repetition of this theme throughout the collection. And oh yes, that’s me in the pink in the front row… I had to pinch myself several times to make sure I was really there.

On Sunday I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Monique Lhuillier Fall 2010 bridal show. I sat next to Bee and Mrs. Penquin from Weddingbee, and Anne-Marie from Perfect Bound. The dresses in person we’re truly ethereal–floaty–loveliness. The shape for most of the dresses this season was a structure A-line with a very minimal train. Subtle bling was used on several of the dresses and in person, the sparkle effect was to die for.

I love the use of bling in the center of the flowers, the dress was still floaty, but the sparkle reminded of the way snow catches the sunlight in winter.

There was also a lot of ruffle details that created such beautiful movement when the models walked.

I loved this asymmetrical bodice, very modern, and it would be super flattering on a lot of different body types.

I also loved this off the shoulder look, again the layers of fabric just moved so beautifully.

Also, I know the little paisley shaped caplets probably won’t make it to real life, but I still loved them anyway. The models also wore delicate tulle fingerless gloves that I kind of want to wear right now…
