Fifty Flowers approached me to do a little photo shoot using their fun Christmas Carnation Flower Pack.

holiday_table

I used a seersucker runner and then created a garland down the table of ornaments and red and white carnations.

I love the way ornaments reflect light!

holiday_table2

I used some fun soda pop cans in my color scheme of red and white.

Above, I hung ornaments at different heights.

Votive candles added a lovely glow.

For a favor, homemade peanut brittle in mason jars with seersucker detail, adds a tasty touch along with festive presents.

Chic Holiday Wreath

Kelly
November 29

chic_christmas_party_kelly_oshiro

Now that the holiday season is officially in gear, I thought I’d share a holiday wreath I created.

chic_holiday_wreath_kelly_oshiro

I wanted to incorporate the colors of the season, but add a touch of copper and blue to the mix so it doesn’t feel too traditional.

chic_holiday_wreath_santa_barbara

To create the wreath I used a ready made twig wreath for Michael’s as the base. Then I tucked in red ranunculus and dahlias for the floral elements. Then I layered pumpkin branch, fig, and berzilla balls, to add texture.

chic_holiday_party_kelly_oshiro

Blue thistle added an expected element and contrasts nicely with all the red elements.

The end result… a chic, modern, holiday wreath!

Special thanks to Cheryl Halberg of Halberg Photographers for taking the pretty photos.

Real Wedding: Rustic Elegance at Rancho Dos Pueblos

November 17

022_041__IM_5467

This wedding was held at the gorgeous Rancho Dos Pueblos, my all time favorite location. Here is the beautiful bride and perhaps the most “wedding planner” moment I’ve ever had; I was the one driving the golf cart to the ceremony site!

047_057__IM_5982

For ceremony, I had a platform built and carpeted to add an elegant touch.

rustic_elegance_ceremony

Overhead, Kim at Collage created a simple huppa with gorgeous hydrangea, calla lilies, and yellow roses.

0464__IM_6460

My favorite photo of the couple, taken right after ceremony.

rustic_seating_cards

For the escort cards I hung them on an old burnt out tree at Rancho Dos Pueblos’ Casa Grande. Laura Hooper did the elegant calligraphy.

letterpress_invitations_santa_barbara

For invitations, Megan used her own handmade paper (yes, handmade!) and created a deckle (torn edge) on the bottom of each part of the invitation. The design was very simple, with a hand drawn Morton Bay Fig Tree flanking the bottom of the invitation. For the hotel insert, she used translucent handmade paper that was gorgeous.

rancho_dos_pueblos

My favorite part of the event design, was uplighting Rancho Dos Pueblos’ huge Morton Bay Fig Trees. Each one is at least 60′ in diameter.

santa_barbara_rustic_elegance_wedding

Some of the guests tables with the trees lit behind. For linens, I had runners made of a soft yellow silk set atop dark wood Amalfi tables. It was the perfect blend of “Rustic Elegance.”

rustic_elegance_kelly_oshiro_design

For the head table centerpieces of hydrangea, calla lilies, and cymbidium orchids, decorated the table. I also used mercury glass candle holders in two heights to add a touch of silver.

rustic_elegance_chair_wedding

For the bride and groom’s chair, a bunch of roses tied with yellow silk added a romantic touch.

0637_IMG_3120

On each place setting, a hemstitch napkin held a letterpress menu that was mounted on a thin piece of wood. One cymbidium was tucked into the napkin as well.

rancho_dos_pueblos_bar

Since the lawn is so large, I used hedging to baffle the lawn and hide the catering kitchen. In front of the hedging, I created a huge bar using Montecito furniture from Town & Country.

0586_IMG_3002

In front of the bar, I used Montecito couches mixed with Rococo furniture to create a large lounge area.

Christine Dahl made a simple square tiered cake accented with cymbidiums, was perfectly elegant and understated.

A special thanks to all the vendors who made it possible:

Red Ranunculus & Dahlias + Billy Balls + Pumpkin Branch

Kelly

santa_barbara_chic4

I bought some fall inspired flowers for my office this week. And I’m loving the red ranunculus & dahlias in my old bottles (this look is going to be used for an upcoming event!).

santa_barbara_chic

I also bought pumpkin branch, which I’ve never worked with before. It has some serious thorns, but the pumpkins are so cute!

santa_barbara_chic3

I love billy balls for their fun and whimsical shape (plus they last forever). Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I love bunches of all white flowers the look is always chic and timeless. I particularly love the lace like quality of these Queen Anne flowers.

babybreath_clock_annakern

And baby’s breathe in mass, always looks so feminine and soft to me.

bellsofireland_mikkelvang

The delicate bell shaped blooms of Lily of the Valley are so ladylike and pretty. A simply posey of these for a bride to carry down the aisle is always chic.

My obsession with buttons and pretty lit bits continues. I’m loving all of these colors right now; aqua, hot pink, and gray? Yes, please.

These spools of thread make me so darn happy. And I love that two tier wire basket. I need one of for all of my ribbon!

Garden Roses + Old Bottles & Books

Kelly
September 08

garden_rose

I bought some garden roses yesterday (from a rose farm no less) to put in my office and I used some of my vintage bottles as bud vases. I’m in love with the slight green color of old glass, not to mention a lot of them have funny messages on them like “makes 5 gallons of drink.”

garden_rose1

The books are left over decor for a recent wedding and I love them. I have a thing for books, especially old books and several stacks have made their home in my office.

garden_rose2

The roses make my office smell amazing and there’s nothing quite like a pretty vignette to make my work day less stressful. Happy Wednesday!

Outdoor Spaces + Pink

Kelly
August 23

umbrella_picnic_jamesgardiner_pink_era

My obsession with hot pink continues particularly in outdoor spaces. Its such an unexpected color outside and I love the contrast with green foliage. Also, this may be the most adorable umbrella, ever.

picnic_aqua_pollyeltes-era

Stunning outdoor space with hot pink lanterns? Um, yes. I’ll take some tea and cookies right about here.

pink_door_pollyeltes_era

But the piece de résistance? A hot pink, heavy, wood, door leading to your garden. Done and done.
