Real Wedding: Greek Garden Elegance

Kelly
May 13

Evie & Nate were seriously a dream couple to work with; super nice, easy going, with amazing taste to boot, and the booked my girl Kirsten for the photos. The inspiration for the wedding design, was Evie’s Greek heritage. When we first spoke, she said she wanted it to feel like her grandmother’s garden in Greece. So we talked about using fresh herbs like bay and lavender, of course olive branches, and then mixing in fluffy garden roses.

In Evie’s bouquet I used a mix of Patience garden roses, bay leaves, lavender, olive branch, and queen anne’s lace and wrapped it up, with a strip of torn linen.

In keeping with the herb theme, I made petite boutonnières of lavender and rosemary and wrapped them with copper velvet ribbon. The bridesmaids carried simple dried lavender poseys finished with a tidy bow.

The ceremony was held at St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church and decor was kept simple with olive garlands attached to the church pews.

After the ceremony, guests made there way to the rooftop of the Canary. I designed a “potting bench” seating card table using Town & Country’s potting bench bar. At the center of the table, guests’ names and seating assignments were spelled out on wood plant markers and tucked into moss. To finish the vignette, I used a collection of vintage watering cans, potted lavender, and stacks of rustic garden containers.

On the tables I used a mix of stone, and iron, garden containers and filled them with annabelle hydranga, Patience and Caramel Antique garden roses, bay and olive leaves, sweet peas, and dahlias. A soft green linen was draped over the tables and La Tavola’s cut lace linen layered over. A mix of gold and silver mercury glass candle holders added a hint of metallic glow.

A big congratulaions to Evie & Nate and a big thank you to all the vendors who made this day happen! To see more of this wedding hop over to Once Wed and Santa Barbara Magazine.

Real Wedding: Modern Citrus in Montecito

Kelly
February 18

I love a simple, and modern wedding, and this one held at the Monastery in Montecito, with its citrus and succulents decor, and small guest count (just 45 guests!) is right up my alley.

The bride wore a classic strapless gown by Va Lena Valentina.

And carried a bouquet with succulents, dusty miller and ranunculus designed by Blue Magnolia.

The 3 bridesmaids wore simple purple dresses.

The groom looking dapper in a Jonathan Behr Bespoke suit.

The wedding was held in the garden of the Monastery, high above Santa Barbara and featured ocean views.

Instead of a formal sit down dinner, the couple chose to throw kind of a cocktail party, with tray passed appetizers and a buffet of goodies for guests to enjoy.  Decor was kept relatively simple with bonsai and citrus trees taking the starring role.

The cake, by Christine Dahl, was decorated simply with buttermilk frosting and fresh citrus. Thank you to Patrick Moyer for sharing this simple, but stunning wedding with Santa Barbara Chic!

Real Wedding: Santa Barbara Secret Garden Estate Wedding by Tricia Fountaine

Kelly
January 07

Today I’m excited to share this absolutely stunning garden wedding designed by Tricia Fountaine and held at one of my favorite garden estates in Montecito. As guests entered the wedding they were greeted by flower filled fountains. How pretty are the shades of yellow, peach and pink?

Reflecting the tones of the flowers, the bridesmaids wore a range of soft pinks, taupes and peaches for their dresses.

The bride carried a peach toned bouquet with peach garden roses, patience garden roses and geranium.

The estate’s statues were adorned with ivy to add to the secret garden feel.

For the ceremony, tin containers were filled with flowers and lined the aisle. At the front, an arbor of branches with trailing flowers created a garden backdrop. On either side, large floral arrangements in weather garden urns were mixed with coppery patina lanterns.

The couple, said “I do” in dappled light while guests looked on.

Old garden keys served as escort cards and guided guests to their seat.

Distressed farm house tables from Town & Country were paired with shabby chic white chivari chairs. Tricia’s collection of vintage lace linens added a feminine touch.

Dahlias, roses, snapdragons, dusty miller and lamb’s ear made up the floral arrangements.

Old tin tiles were placed under some of the floral vignettes.

Table numbers were pieces of birch cut on a angle with the number written in.

A buttercream cake was decorated with pink lisanthus, dahlias, queen anne’s lace, wax flower and spray roses.

And the couple’s grand exit was made extra special with a sparkler send off! Thank you Soigne Productions, for sharing this beautiful wedding with us!

Real Wedding: Peonies & Love at San Ysidro Ranch

Kelly
September 10

Are you ready for one seriously gorgeous and intimate wedding? Held at the always stunning San Ysidro Ranch, this wedding’s design was inspired by the beautiful gardens that make up the grounds of the property.

The bride carried a stunning bouquet of pink peonies, dahlias and garden roses (all my favorites!) by Florette Designs and wore a stunning dress by Vera Wang.

Paper goods were kept simple and elegant and are from Etsy. Escort cards designed by Lazaro Press were little tags that were tied to a vintage ladder.

For the reception, the outdoors were brought inside with more gorgeous blooms (I can’t get over the size of these peonies) tucked into mercury glass containers. A big thank you to Joy for sharing this gorgeous affair with us and to Jose Villa for the beautiful photos!

Real Wedding: Eclectic Pink Wedding at Ojai Valley Inn

Kelly
August 27

I love an intimate celebration, and this wedding with its small count of just 50 guests, coupled with its romantic vintage vibe is simply lovely.

First up, the love birds: The bride wore a Melissa Sweet gown (no longer avalaible) and the groom wore a sweet gray suit that complimented the bride’s playful dress perfectly.

Dinner was held on a terrace at the Ojai Valley Inn. To personalize the long feasting table, the bride brought her family’s china all the way from Oregon.  Flowers by Lauryl Lane in a soft pink and peach palette with touches of gray finished out their table design.

Dahlias, ranunculus, scabiosa and succulents gave great texture to the flowers and created a romantic vibe for dinner and dancing. Congrats to the happy couple!

Real Wedding: Wildflower Elegance at Ojai Valley Inn

Kelly
June 18

Today I’m in love with this eclectic and relaxed wedding that took place at the gorgeous Ojai Valley Inn & Spa. I love the flowers in the bride’s hair and her shoes, well, I’ll take a pair!

The ceremony was held in the herb garden at the Inn. Holly Flora complimented the location with flowers arranged in a loose and wildflower manner.

Couple and family photos were taken after ceremony during Ojai’s famous pink moment (as the sun sets in Ojai, all the mountains turn pink).

For the reception, flowers and decor were again kept loose and natural in a color palette of pinks, purples and whites. I particularly love the raspberry gophrena!

Real Wedding: Santa Barbara Style at San Ysidro Ranch

Kelly
March 26

This small and intimate wedding held at San Ysidro Ranch is the epitome of Santa Barbara elegance.

The relaxed groom, wears a suit without a tie, but with a thoughtful detail embroidered in his suit — the couples’ initials and their wedding location.

The ceremony was held in front of the outdoor fireplace at the ranch and decorated simply with candles.

Petite wrought iron chandeliers were hung in the trees to add a bit of sparkle.

Afterwards, the couple took photos on the spectacular grounds of San Ysidro… The field of lavender, fuschia bougainvillea, all make for a stunning backdrop for the photographers, Michael & Anna Costa.

Delicious bites, champagne for toasting, and stunning flowers, by Camilla Svensson Burns complete the affair, all planned by the always lovely, Jill LaFleur.
