Entertaining: Thanksgiving Table with Persimmons

Kelly
November 14

Its that time of year, Thanksgiving is a little more than a week away and it can be daunting to figure out the decor for your table in the midst of food prep and family arrivals. So to get you inspired, I used rentals from Town & Country’s new Santa Barbara location for those who want to add a bit of pizzaz to their celebration. But honestly, the best part of renting china/flatware/glassware? You simply have to rinse your plates, throw them back in their crates and Town & Country will clean up for you (heck while you’re at it, you might as well rent platters and serving utensils and really make a dent in your dishes pile).

For the table, I used their vineyard table, which has a rustic wood plank topic which is perfect for the season. For the centerpiece, the vineyard oblong wood bowl holds persimmon branches, dusty miller, bittersweet, whole persimmons, brunia, orange dahlias, and ranunculus (all flowers from Florabundance). The vineyard cane back chairs add a hint of elegance to the look.

I placed the  burlap wing backed paris chair to cap each end of the table.

At each place setting I used a Provencal plate (no need for a charger for a casual dinner), Riedel stemless wine glasses, fleur de lys glasses for water, and coppery Morocco flatware. Simple linen napkins in oyster are folded casually and placed under the flatware. And finally, a simple sprig of bittersweet graces each plate.

I then used some leftover bittersweet and ranunculus to make an impromptu mini garland.

Then I stuck a leftover ranunuclus in my hair and lit the silver and gold mercury glass votives from Jamali Garden. And stay tuned, tomorrow I will show you how to recreate the centerpiece for your own Thanksgiving table.

And here’s a cheat sheet of all the rentals you’ll need for a party of 6:

2 Paris high backed chairs

4 vineyard cane backed chairs

6 provencal dinner plates

6 of each, salad fork, dinner fork, dinner knife and spoon in Morocco

1 6′ foot vineyard table

6 oyster linen napkins

6 fleur de lys water glasses

6 stemless riedel glasses

1 oblong bowl (for centerpiece)

Happy party planning!

I love vintage or antique anything, and that’s why I’m loving Found Vintage Rentals. They are a rental company for weddings and private events and they have so many cute vintage props, tables, chairs and accesories that you create that “Anthropologie” look for your wedding day with ease.

I love a good farmhouse table and they have a bunch to choose from. Not to mention suitcases, a great prop for photo booths, welcome tables or the seating card table.

Oh yes, and they have vintage containers and old glass which I’m totally obsessed with. Check out their inventory here. Happy designing!

New Rentals = New Obsession

I’m in love with these new candle walls from Town and Country. They’re 10 feet tall and add so much drama to a space. Plus they’d work perfectly to divide a tent into “rooms” if you needed to. They can be rented with or without the sheer drape and with or without LED candles  (though in a tent you’d have to do LED).

This fabulous chair is part of the new Montecito collection. Bridal portraits in this chair would be awesome.

And of course they have a matching couch. I love the rustic/elegant feel it has.

Oh yes, and this black and white awesomeness (I’m a sucker for anything black and white).

All items are from Town & Country Event Rentals.

More, More, More: New Event Rentals

I just got my latest email from Town and Country Event Rentals and they’ve added even more fun pieces to their collection. The first (and my new favorite) is the Amalfi Cabana. I love the contrast of the sheer fabric swagging with the dark masculine wood. I can’t wait to use it!

New Rentals: Translucent

I saw these new translucent tables, display cases, and panels when I visited Town and Country Event Rentals while I was picking out china and glassware for my wedding. I loved the panels so much that I added them to my order. I set them up behind the DJ and used green uplights to color the panels to match my theme. The DJ loved them, and so did I!

How cool would it be to use the display cases for escort cards?

Decor: Ghost Chair

Kelly
May 20

I love finding new rental equipment to use for my event designs and these ghost chairs from Resource One fit the bill. Designed by Philippe Starke and produced by Kartell, they are the epitome of a clean, modern style. The chairs come in two styles, the more feminine and smaller option is called “Victoria,” the more masculine version is called “Louis.”

Victoria comes in a plethora of colors whereas Louis comes in more basic colors like white, black, amber and clear.

The chairs can be shipped nationwide, with the LA warehouse serving the west coast and New Jersey the east coast. The rental price isn’t cheap, but if you have to have something more modern than the standard chivari chair this is a cool alternative.

New Lounge Furniture

Town and Country Event Rentals has just added 5 new types of rental furniture.

Metro is modular furniture with a very masculine feel. For a couple holding their reception in art gallery this would be the perfect accent.
