I’m in love with these photos Johnny Miller did for Kate Spade. How fabulous is the orange and purple together?

I love the use of mixed media for these collages.

Johnny has also shot for Martha Stewart (good things anyone?) Go check out his site now, there is oodles of eye candy to be had!

New Rentals = New Obsession

I’m in love with these new candle walls from Town and Country. They’re 10 feet tall and add so much drama to a space. Plus they’d work perfectly to divide a tent into “rooms” if you needed to. They can be rented with or without the sheer drape and with or without LED candles  (though in a tent you’d have to do LED).

This fabulous chair is part of the new Montecito collection. Bridal portraits in this chair would be awesome.

And of course they have a matching couch. I love the rustic/elegant feel it has.

Oh yes, and this black and white awesomeness (I’m a sucker for anything black and white).

All items are from Town & Country Event Rentals.

Inspiration Board #17: Vintage Glam

Kelly
April 06

Since everyone seemed to love that vintage photo of the cascading, arch tulle, dress I though it would be the perfect inspiration for my vintage glam board. I picture this wedding being less about colors or any specific decor, and more about the fashion and the glamorous location. I picture the “bride” in the photo would have the most stylist bridesmaids ever, a Rolls Royce, and very dry martinis for her guests.

Paper Goods: Final Brochure

Kelly
March 18

The brochure comes in a small box that’s usually used for jewelry. I wanted the the brochure to sit flush with the top of the box so Megan made a false bottom by wrapping foam core in a darker gray book cloth.

Underneath the brochure are my cards and a little envelope filled with photos of my work (cards by Moo).

I love how the belly band looks wrapped around the gray book cloth.

The perfectly tucked edges, yay for bone folders!

The accordion fold:

The page with event design information:

And of course the page about Santa Barbara Wedding Chic!

I love the sheen of the book cloth.

I’m so in love with them, I kind of don’t know how I’ll be able to part with them!

Paper Goods: My Brochure (ie shameless self promotion)

Kelly

My brochure has been in the works for almost a year. I knew I didn’t want a throw away flier or a big bulky folder. Instead I wanted a little couture piece that would be a reflection of my style. I saw this format on a blog and I knew it would be perfect:

This format would be ideal for potential clients to be able look at the brochure, and if they like what they see, they can take a card. That way paper waste is cut down and I could be proud of this little commercial work of art.

So after many revisions (too many to count), I present the making of my brochure along with a big THANK YOU to my resident book artist, handmade paper guru, and letterpress wiz, Megan of Nutmeg Press.

First all the copy was laid out in Illustrator and then made into a negative (one). The negative is then made into a polymer plate (two).

Then the letterpress is inked, the plates set on the bed and the paper is run through the press (three). Then each piece is laid out to dry (four).

Then the press is cleaned and inked with the second color, green. After the second run, the finished piece, with green and black ink, is left to dry.

A belly band was made to wrap around the brochure featuring my logo (seven). We used book cloth as the front and back of the book. Glue is applied to the book cloth and then attached to thin cardboard. The corners need to get tucked in perfectly so no cardboard shows through (eight).

Finally the book cloth board is attached to the front and back of the brochure (nine). The finished product!

Up next photos of the finished brochure and its box.
