Gal-entine Day Ideas with Flutter Magazine

Kelly
February 09

I’m not super to into V-day, but I am down for any excuse to drink champagne and sit at a pretty table. Camille from Camellia Floral Design wanted to create a modern hot pink table mixed with gold and brass accents for a faux Gal-entine’s day brunch for Flutter’s blog.

I pulled organic white ceramic plates from Porch, along with wood, gold, and brass elements to go with the floral containers. While at Porch we found the perfect salt and pepper holder for the table and hexagon mercury glass candle holders that echoed the hex pattern Camille painted on the containers. Camille adhered paint chips to wall behind the table to create a little backdrop and I used the left over paint chips on the table as an runner. Pink juice plus champagne with pomegranate seeds added even more color in the most insane gold dipped glasses. At each setting I floated a gold leaf tray with one sweet pea for a further pop of color.

You can pop over to Flutter for their feature on this table right here and tomorrow, I’ll show you how Camille put together this floral arrangement so you can create it for your best gal-pal Valentine’s day brunch!

I love photos of a collection of objects styled really, really, well and all of these photos fit the bill (in fact, I have a pinterest board dedicated to pretty bits, check it here). How pretty is the simple color combo of blue and green?

Color Palette: Spring Pastels

I love the soft romantic colors of spring, soft pinks, purples in yellows… Above yellow takes centerstage and adds a pop of brightness.

Sage green is another lovely color on which to play aganist. For a wedding I could see using a sage velvet, milk glass containers and spring blooms like clematis, lavender, and ranunuclus.

Of course soft pink is a classic base color. You could drape your table in a soft pink and overlay a couple of layers of pink tulle for a slighty ballet-ish feel. Add in some muted white and peach flowers with a hint of yellow, and you’d have one pretty table. Would you use pastels for your wedding or home?

Fuchsia & Red + Weekend Links

February 22

This week I’m feeling inspired by deep fuchsia and bright reds and I’m in love with these two photos. On the rocks will (finally) be returning next week and I’m so excited to share some new libation ideas with you (you can see a sneak peek right here).

I’m prepping for a 12 (yes 12!) look bridal shoot which will be revealed March 29th so posting will probably be a bit sporadic next week as I run back and forth to LA to retrieve dresses, pick up flowers, and pull props.

In the meantime, here are some weekend links, enjoy!

Watercolor Moments

A little post today (since it is technically a holiday) of some pretty watercolor moments. How cute are these DIY water color tags? They’d make for some cute escort cards!

Pair actual watercolor elements with watercolor flowers (how pretty are the clematis on the left?) and you’ve got a pretty, soft, spring look I love… See you tomorrow, I’m off to prep for a shoot… you can get a sneak peek of what I’m up to right here
